For parts in mechanical engineering, building construction, shipbuilding and the chemical industry: The range of applications for stainless bright steel is very diverse.
The surface of stainless bright steel has a high tolerance and can be used for ISO fits without further processing. We deliver corrosion-resistant bright steel in various grades:
- Martensitic grades such as 1.4057 are hardenable. They can be adjusted to high strength values by means of a tempering treatment. However, the corrosion resistance of these materials is limited.
- Austenitic grades such as 1.4404 show high corrosion resistance. However, due to their chemical composition, they cannot be hardened. Their tensile strength is therefore rather low. Not so their toughness, which is still excellent even at extremely low temperatures.
- Duplex materials such as 1.4462 have medium strength and very high corrosion resistance. Under common circumstances, they are permanently seawater resistant.
