ESP 65 is a case-hardening steel that was developed specifically for use in modern cutting machines for demanding construction materials. Compared to 16MnCr5 and 16MnCrS5, it offers improved machinability and performance.
Its excellent machinability results in shorter cutting times, a longer tool life and, consequently, lower manufacturing costs. It has similar machining properties to free-cutting steels, enables precise tolerances and reduces machining stresses, while also having a positive influence on distortion behaviour after hardening. Reworking, such as straightening and grinding, can be minimised, further reducing costs. Consequently, ESP 65 differs significantly from standard steels.
ESP 65 is particularly suitable for machining components that undergo intensive processing, such as gear wheels, worm wheels and gear parts.
