C35R

Unalloyed rolled steel for quenching and tempering according to DIN EN 10083/DIN EN ISO 683.

Often used for force-transmitting parts with medium stresses, such as shafts, axles or screws, where moderate strength is required together with a certain degree of toughness. Due to its increased carbon content, C35R is difficult to weld. The re-sulphurised “R” variant ensures more favourable machinability, but with a less favourable degree of purity than the almost analogous “E” variant. In some cases, double certification of C35E/R takes place.
