Alloy steel for quenching and tempering according to DIN EN 10083/DIN EN ISO 683 or forged according to DIN EN 10250.
Often used in vehicle construction and mechanical engineering for force-transmitting parts subject to the highest stresses, such as connecting rods, gear shafts and connecting elements, where very good toughness properties and good hardenability are required in addition to high strength. Components made from pre-material in the quenched and tempered condition (+QT) can be used without further heat treatment if necessary. The mechanical properties are homogeneous and defined in the DIN standard.
Due to its alloy composition, 34CrNiMo6 is generally difficult to weld.
