34CrAlNi7-10

Nitriding steel, rolled according to DIN EN 10085/DIN EN ISO 683 in quenched and tempered and stress-relieved version (+QT+SR) or in forged condition which is not defined in a standard.

Widely used in vehicle construction and mechanical engineering for parts subject to high wear, e.g. spindles, connecting rods and parts for superheated steam fittings. Very high surface hardnesses can be set by a nitriding process. Quenched and tempered and stress-relieved bar steel (+QT+SR) shows very low residual stresses, so that little distortion is to be expected during subsequent machining. Furthermore, homogeneous mechanical properties defined in the DIN standard are available for tempered material. Due to its alloy composition, 34CrAlNi7-10 is usually very difficult to weld.
