Material 1.4542 is one of the age-hardenable corrosion-resistant steels. High corrosion resistance combined with mechanical properties make it suitable for use in maritime environments where martensitic grades are no longer sufficient. 1.4542 is also widely used in the aerospace industry, as well as in the chemical and petroleum industries. The solution annealed, tempered versions ensure homogeneous properties defined in the relevant DIN standards.
