Moderate corrosion resistance characterises the martensitic material 1.4112 as well as very high wear resistance, which is ensured by the high carbon content and the possibility of hardening. Therefore, this material is often used, for example, for screws, blades and cutting edges such as surgical instruments. The annealed version ensures good machinability of the bar steel. Components made from this material are typically subjected to further heat treatment.
